Children today are surrounded by screens, there is no avoiding that. Why don’t we teach our children from a young age that these technological devices are tools to make our lives better? That they can and should use those devices to better themselves? Let’s not make them only passive consumers of content.
It has been established through research that passive consuming of content through screens for pre-school children is bad for their development. Thats why the general opinion is that screens are bad for children development. This is not strictly true – it depends on how are they used.
We aim to make children active participants when using screens. We want to engage them to use their screen time for their development. Each has a specific developmental purpose, for cognitive or motor-skills improvement. Each of our apps is meant to be a tool.
Children before age 6 are, in average, spending around 4h per day in front of a screen: TV, computer, mobile or tablet. That is certainly a lot. How much of that time is for entertainment purposes? At that age, probably all of it.
We want young children to be empowered to use various surrounding screens as learning tools and not just as channels for consuming media. Our goal is to revolutionise Early Childhood Education (ECE) and finally bring it to the 21st century!
